UTEP senior linebacker Robert Rodriguez was chosen the WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking the fourth straight game that the Miners have had a player honored by the league.
The El Paso native registered a game-high 11 tackles in UTEP's 24-21 triumph at Fresno State on Saturday. He had one tackle for loss and an 18-yard interception late in the fourth quarter, helping the Miners hold off the heavily-favored Bulldogs.
Rodriguez leads UTEP with 47 tackles (31 solos) this season. He has also picked up eight tackles for losses. His interception at Fresno State was the fourth of his career.
