UTEP linebacker Thomas Howard has been named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year in the state of Texas by
Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine. The publication is slated to hit newsstands on June 20.
It marks the first time in the magazine’s 46-year history that UTEP has had a preseason player of the year on either side of the ball.
UTEP is featured on the cover of the magazine another first for the program. A photo of head coach Mike Price occupies the upper right corner with the words “This Price is Right For UTEP.”
