Eriksson Takes Silver at Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophomore Hans Eriksson took silver in day one of the Texas A&M Invitational at the at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium at the McFerrin Athletic Center in College Station, Texas.

Hans earned the men’s team eight points with a throw of 19.05 for a second place finish in the weight throw.

On the women’s side, Kendra Chambers finished third overall, but was the collegiate champion giving the Miners ten points after a time of 54.85 in the 400-meter race. Teammate Siobhian Crain finished 17th (58.09).

Ronalds Arajs qualified for tomorrow’s 60-meter dash after running a 6.91 in today’s preliminaries.

In other Friday night finals, Chasity Ross finished seventh in the 600-yard run (1:26.25) and Kitria Stewart was 13th (1:27.68). In the men’s version of the 600m Michael Wheelright was 14th (1:18.26) and Joshua Short 15th (1:18.52). Shot put thrower Terran Alexander was 17th.

UTEP will look to come back strong on Saturday morning as 21 Miners will take the track or field in the day-event.
