The UTEP women's golf team finished 10th in its first tournament of the spring season, the Aztec Invitational on Tuesday in Chula Vista, Calif.
The Miners posted rounds of 300, 324 and 317 for a total of 941. San Jose State won the 18-team, three-day event (288-312-300-900).
UC Irvine had the individual medalist in Hillary Packard, who carded a two-over-par 218 (68-77-73).
Freshman Teresa Nogues tied for 12th place to lead the Miners (76-75-76-227). Rosana Gomez joined her in the top-25 by tying for 23rd place (73-79-80-232). Two Miners tied for 60th place, Deborah Martinez (75-86-81-242) and Stephanie Herrera (76-86-80-242), and Liz Sobczak tied for 69th place (79-84-82-245).
Six of the schools in the 18-team field are ranked in the nation's top 50.
