EL PASO, Texas – UTEP Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Lisa Campos was selected to participate in the NCAA’s Fellows Leadership Program.
Campos will join 11 other NCAA administrators to represent all three divisions in the 2009-10 NCAA sponsored program.
“This is a great opportunity for Lisa Campos to gain additional administrative knowledge through the extensive programs offered by the NCAA Fellows Program,” UTEP Athletic Director Bob Stull said. Stull served as a mentor in last year’s program.
Developed in 1997 by the MOIC and CWA, the Fellows program enhances employment and leadership opportunities for women and minorities at the senior management levels of intercollegiate athletics administration.
Participants gain academic and practical work experience during an 18-month program that enables them to develop talents and abilities and mesh skills with career aspirations. Each NCAA Fellow is assigned an executive mentor and is responsible for completing an in-depth project outside of their normal job responsibilities.
Northwestern University Athletic Director Jim Phillips will serve as Campos’ mentor through the program.
“Aside from the individual knowledge Campos will gain from this program, our athletic department will benefit from the NCAA Fellows Leadership Program,” Stull added. “The program is designed to address all aspects of our jobs and she will bring back not only what is addressed at these meetings, but how other colleagues around the country view and handle different situations.”
NCAA Fellows remain at their current institutions for the duration of the program and attend the NCAA Convention and relevant governance meetings, advances and workshops. The program’s emphasis includes marketing, public and media relations, budgeting, leadership, compliance and fund-raising.
The 2009-10 Fellowship Leadership Program includes: Linda Andrzjewski (Wilmington (Delaware) Assistant Athletics Director/Compliance and SWA), Monique Holland (Alabama State Associate Athletics Director/SWA), Lisa Campos (UTEP Senior Associate Athletics Director), Derek Horne (Mississippi Senior Associate Athletics Director), Victoria Chun (Colgate Senior Associate Athletics Director/SWA), Kiki Jacobs (Oberlin Associate Athletics Director/SWA), James Sarra (UTSA Associate Athletics Director for External Operations), Allison Tookes (Wayne State (Mich.) Associate Athletics Director/SWA), Tracy Scott (Eastern Kentucky Associate Athletics Director/Compliance/SWA), Marianne Vydra (Oregon State Assistant Athletics Director/SWA), Darryl Sims (Wisconsin-Oshkosh Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Development and Operations) and Carla Wilson (UMKC Senior Associate Athletics Director/SWA).
