Women's Golf Takes Fourth at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

The UTEP women's golf team registered its third top-five finish of the season -- and second in as many tournaments -- by claiming fourth place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Wednesday in Chandler, Ariz.

Coming off a title at the UALR Classic (March 28-29), the Miners posted rounds of 301, 300 and 304 for a total of 905. Iowa was champion of the 24-team tournament (289-301-294-884).

Senior Shang-Fan Huang tied for 12th place with a seven-over-par 223 (76-75-72) to lead the Miners. Teresa Nogues joined Huang in the top-20, carding a 225 (75-75-75). Camino Sardinero tied for 28th place (73-75-79-227), Nathalie Castillo tied for 53rd place (77-77-78-232) and Emma Burman tied for 84th place (79-75-85-239) for UTEP.

UTEP will now turn its attention to the Conference USA Championship April 23-25 in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Miners are defending champions.
