Michael Saruni and
Jonah Koech will represent the Miners at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas on March 9-10.
Saruni heads into the competition with the fastest 800m time in the country. The sophomore clocked the second-best 800m time in NCAA history at the Texas Tech Classic with a time of 1:44.89. This will be the Kenya native's second appearance on the national indoor stage.
Koech will make his third appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile run. The junior clocked the third-fastest time in the country at the Don Kirby Elite with a time of 3:55.81. Last year, he finished in sixth place at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile run.
Koech will take the track first in the mile prelim at 4:35 p.m. MT, followed by Saruni in the 800m prelim starting at 6:15 p.m.
The top-four times from each heat plus the next two best times will advance to the finals.
