Miners Finish Day 1 at Aggie Invitational in 3rd Place


LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The UTEP Women's Golf team closed out the first round of play at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational in third place at the NM State Golf Course in Las Cruces.
 
The Miners were led by Audrey Haddad, who finished the opening round in a four-way tie for first place after shooting 2-under-par 70 on Monday.
 
As a team, UTEP shot 302 (+14) through the first 18 holes to finish the day six shots out of first place after the first round. Round two is set for Tuesday morning in Las Cruces.
 
UTEP's Valeria Mendizabal ended the first day tied for 10th individually after the junior shot 3-over-par 75, while Sophie Delfosse finished two shots behind her with a score of 77 for the day.
 
Andrea Ostos competed as an individual and closed out the day shooting 77 (+5), while Shannon O'Dwyer and Abbie Anghelescu both ended the first round shooting 80 (+8). Other individuals competing for the Miners on the first day included Taylor Stone (81, +9) and Naomi Ramirez (82, +10).
