UTEP Tennis Adds Two International Standouts For 2019-20 Season

EL PASO, Texas – Thássane Abrahim (Colégio Anglo-Americano-Brazil) and Eve Daniels (Cheadle Hulme HS-England) have signed national letters of intent to attend UTEP and compete with the Miner tennis team starting in the 2019-20 season, UTEP head tennis coach Ivan Fernandez announced Monday.
 
"It is great to welcome Thássane (Abrahim) and Eve (Daniels) to the UTEP tennis family," Fernandez said. "Both of these players bring tremendous international experience to our young team. I know they will have an immediate impact in the lineup as soon as they arrive."
 
A brief profile on both individuals follows below.

Best UTR (universal tennis ranking) score of 9.8 in 2018 … highest junior ITF ranking was  No. 695 in the world … advanced to the semifinals in doubles competition at Copa Kuerten in 2018 … was a semifinalist in doubles in 2017 for both the Bahia Juniors Cup and Santa Catarina events … competed in the quarterfinals of those tournaments in 2018 … event champion for the 2014 Banana Bowl (U12 bracket) … also won the 2014 Copa Gerdau (U12 bracket) … played in the Roland-Garros junior wildcard competition in spring 2018 … began playing tennis at the age of seven … enjoys reading, playing other sports, learning new languages, drawing and painting in her free time.

Took the singles title at the 2018 DL North of England competition … won the U18 doubles final at a 2018 Edinburgh ITF juniors event … top-ranked player in her county … National Junior Club league winner … in 2015 she won the U14 HSBC Road to Wimbledon Regional Final, which allowed her the chance to play at Wimbledon in the National Finals … enjoys photography and music in her spare time … chose UTEP for its athletic and academic excellence … has been playing tennis for nine years … recognized as a science ambassador at her school.
 
"I am really excited to have Eve join our team in August. I have had many English players in the past, she is my first one here at UTEP and hopefully not the last. The English are great for the hard courts of college tennis. They are used to playing on fast surfaces at home, which makes for an easy transition. I know she will be a great addition to this team."
