EL PASO, Texas – UTEP Women's Basketball Head Coach Keitha Adams announced Wednesday that Ewa Laskowska would be returning to UTEP as the Associate Head Coach. The 2023-24 season will mark the 25th season that Laskowska has worked alongside Adams.

Laskowska spent the previous six campaigns at Wichita State, capped with an 18-win effort and WNIT bid in 2022-23. It was the first postseason appearance for the Shockers since 2015.

"I'm extremely excited to have Coach Ewa back in El Paso," Adams said. "Her passion for UTEP and the city is very genuine. Her experience, drive, and motivation make her special. She will wear the orange and blue with pride and determination. She's anxious to hit the ground running for the Miners to build special teams."

Prior to Wichita State, she served under Coach Adams for 16 seasons in their first stint with the Miners. She helped lead UTEP to two NCAA tournament appearances (2008 and 2012) and two WNIT bids (2014 and 2016) including a WNIT Championship appearance in '14. Laskowska was part of six 20+ win seasons and four C-USA championships (three regular season, one tournament).

"I am extremely happy about coming back to El Paso and UTEP. It is a very special place with wonderful people," Laskowska said. "We made some great memories and made wonderful history with our teams during the 16 years we were there. Coming back and working again with Coach Adams is a dream come true. We want to continue the winning tradition and involve the community to be part of something very special. We are excited to have good teams that will feel the love from our community. Once a Miner, always a Miner."

During her time at UTEP, Laskowska had a reputation for being an exceptional domestic and international recruiter, bringing top talent from the U.S. and around the globe to El Paso.

More than 20 players coached by Laskowska have gone on to play professionally.

Before coming to UTEP, Laskowska also coached with Adams at Independence Community College from 1998-2001, where they led the Lady Pirates to back-to-back conference championships. During the 2000-01 season, ICC went 18-0 in conference, had a 34-game winning streak (over two seasons), and finished 31-2. They ended the campaign ranked fifth in the nation in the NJCAA.

Laskowska started her playing career at ICC from 1995-97, where she was a 2x NJCAA All-American and 2x Kodak All-American. In her freshman season, she helped the Lady Pirates to a 34-4 overall record and a national runner-up finish. She was the Region VI Tournament MVP and was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.

In 2011, she was inducted into the Independence Community College Hall of Fame.

She went on to finish her playing days at Kansas State, and finished her bachelor's degree in psychology at Pittsburg State in 1999

Laskowska is a native of Stalowa Wola, Poland.
