EL PASO, Texas – UTEP Football Head Coach Scotty Walden announced Kyle Beyer as lead defensive analyst for the Miners on Thursday. He ventures to the Sun City after gaining a plethora of experience between Indiana Wesleyan and most recently Roosevelt University.

"Coach Beyer joins our staff after getting most of his coaching experience at Indiana Wesleyan for five years – most recently serving as their defensive coordinator and linebackers coach," Walden said. "It takes an extreme amount of detail and focus to run a side of the ball and Coach Beyer's experience with this allows him to bring a wealth of knowledge with him to UTEP that will be vital to our success. We are fired up to have Kyle in the Sun City!"

He was the defensive coordinator at Roosevelt University in 2023, leading a unit that had eight players garner All-Conference recognition. He also implemented a new defensive scheme.

From the Fall of 2018 through Spring of 2023, Beyer worked in multiple capacities at Indiana Wesleyan. He served as cornerbacks coach (2018), linebackers coach (Spring 2019-Spring 2022), special teams coordinator (Spring 2019-Spring 2022) and defensive coordinator (Spring 2022-Spring 2023).

Overall, he has coached 29 All-Conference selections and six All-Americans on both defense and special teams. Indiana Wesleyan advanced to the NAIA Final Four in 2022. His defenses have been known for high pressure, forcing 57 takeaways and registering 67 sacks in his two seasons as defensive coordinator.
