Stephan Fisher joined the UTEP Sports Medicine team in October 2018. His primary responsibility includes the healthcare and injury prevention of the Miner cross country and track & field teams. He also oversees the treatment and healthcare of the UTEP cheer team. 

Originally from Colorado Springs, Colo., Fisher completed his Master of Science degree at Texas State University where he was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. While in San Marcos, Texas, he was responsible for the cross country and track & field teams. During his graduate studies he also served as a secondary school Athletic Trainer for Hays CISD in Kyle, Texas.  

Prior to graduate school, Fisher earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Colorado Mesa University in May 2016. While at CMU, Fisher also competed in track & field as a jumper/multi for the Mesa Mavericks.  

Fisher recently was published in the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation for his paper titled “Photobiomodulation Therapy is More Effective than Cryotherapy for Skeletal Muscle Recovery: A Critically Appraised Topic” and has completed other papers and research focused on therapeutic light therapy in sports medicine.
