Autrey Golden Football
Autrey Golden drove the ball into the end zone to lead the Miners to victory against Southern Miss, 35-14. The junior returned his fifth-career kickoff touchdown, a 98-yard return in the third quarter against the Golden Eagles. The Willis, Texas native first kickoff return touchdown of the season makes him the active national leader in kickoff return scores. The junior also checks in third all time in C-USA in kickoff return touchdowns behind NCAA record holder Tyron Carrier (7) and Quincy McDuffie (6). Golden now has a total of 78 career returns rating fourth all time in program history. The kick returner also has registered 2,139 total kick-return yards ranking him second all time at UTEP and 10 in the league in career yards. Golden leads the conference in kick return yards this season with 543. His stellar showing moves Golden up to No. 20 in the nation in kickoff return with a 25.9 average.
Joan Jepkirui Cross Country
Joan Jepkirui shined bright for the women’s team at the 2014 Conference USA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1. She finished in third place with a 5K time of 16:50.2. With the third-place finish, Jepkirui will garner All C-USA First Team accolades.
