Vince Hunter Men's Basketball
Vince Hunter registered his sixth double-double in eight games to help the UTEP men's basketball team fend off Incarnate Word, 81-65, at the Don Haskins Center on Dec. 8. UTEP used a 31-8 in the first half to grab control of the game, with Hunter scoring 11 points in the surge. He finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds in 21 minutes.
Sparkle Taylor Women's Basketball
Sophomore Sparkle Taylor posted 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the efforts for the Miners, but it wasn't enough in a 72-57 setback at New Mexico on Dec. 14. Taylor hit 4-of-9 shots from the floor and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe in 23 minutes of action.
