Aaron Jones rushed 25 times for 88 yards to lead UTEP in its bowl game against Utah State on Dec. 20. Jones moved into 10th place on the Miners' career rushing list with 2,132 yards and ended the season with 1,321 yards, the fourth-top seasonal total in school annals.

Vince Hunter tied his career-high with 26 points against Southeastern Louisiana and had a double-double against third-ranked Arizona, highlighting his performance in a three-game week. He averaged 20.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals, shooting 60.5 percent (26-for-43) from the field. He made 11-of-13 shots in the Miners' 80-62 victory over SE Louisiana. The 11 field goals were the most by a Miner player since March 12, 2011. Hunter only played 28 minutes versus Arizona before fouling out, but made every one count with 18 points and 12 rebounds in UTEP's narrow 60-55 loss to the Wildcats. He played 25 minutes in UTEP's runaway win over Alcorn State, contributing 16 points, six boards, three assists, three steals and a block as the Miners advanced to the championship game of the WestStar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational in El Paso.
