Vince Hunter Men's Basketball
Vince Hunter averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds this past weekend and looks to be back in top form following a sluggish previous four games to help the men's basketball team secure the No. 2 seed for the 2015 Conference USA Championships which will be held from March 11-15 in Birmingham. Against Rice on March 7, he finished with 22 points and 12 boards, going to the line 16 times. It was his first double-double since Jan. 22 at Western Kentucky. He had started the week by collecting 19 points and eight boards against North Texas on March 5.

Kaitlin Fifield earned two wins and a save during a three-game sweep over Conference USA opponent Middle Tennessee. For the week (five games), she threw 13.1 innings, 13 Ks with a microscopic 0.53 ERA. Fifield was the only pitcher to not have an earned run during a Conference USA series this weekend, while being one of two pitchers to forge a 2-0 conference record. She also recorded the only save in conference play. The sophomore pitched a complete game shutout during 7-0 triumph in agame one victory over the Blue Raiders, recording eight Ks (one off her career high) and only three walks. The El Paso, Texas, native was the first Miner to pitch a goose egg since the 2012 season. Fifield then tallied her first collegiate save during a tight 7-4 win over Middle Tennessee in the second game. Fifield closed out the weekend by earning her third win of 2015 during a 12-2 win (five innings) over Middle Tennessee in the series finale.
