Miners Of The Week: April 15, 2015

The senior ran in the premier section of the 400m dash at the Sun Angel Classic. Onakoya ran to a seventh-place finish (third collegiately) in a field that featured the 2012 400m dash gold medalist Kirani James. The Nigerian native clocked a season-best time of 46.90; it ranks third in Conference USA.

Kawehiokalani Netane Softball
Kawehiokalani Netane hit .385 (5-for-13) with two home runs, eight RBI, and five runs scored during UTEP's five games this past week. Netane hit .444 (4-for-9) with a long ball and five RBI against Conference USA foe FIU. Netane's three-run jack versus No. 19 Arizona State helped the Miners rally late to get within a few runs in game two. Netane accounted for all of UTEP's runs during the 3-2 game one win over FIU - going 1-for-3 with a two-run shot and a sac-fly. Netane chipped in with a pair of RBI during the Miners' eight-run fourth inning to help put the Panthers away 9-1 in five frames in the series finale to complete the weekend sweep. Netane's .405 average is ranked seventh in C-USA, while her .500 average is league only games is ranked no. 3. Netane has also produced five home runs and 15 RBI in league only games.
