EL PASO, Texas – After tying for fifth in the season opener at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial earlier this month, UTEP women's golf heads to Lubbock on Monday and Tuesday for the Red Raider Invitational.
Action gets underway on Monday with a 7:15 a.m. MT/8:15 a.m. CT shotgun start from The Rawls Course (par 72, 6,563 yards) at Texas Tech and can be followed on
GolfStat.
All eight members of the roster for the Miners will compete, with
Taline Kyoumjian,
Nawel Ben Letaief,
Andrea Ostos,
Lea Dawson and
Marta Romeu Chen penciled in as starters. For Dawson and Romeu Chen, the pair will be making their season debuts.
Dawson is a transfer from Memphis who will be making her initial appearance as a Miner.
In the last time out, the French duo of Kyoumjian and Ben Letaief led the way by tying for 13th with two-over par 218 scores.
Daniela Chipchase,
Luciana Origel and
Ella Hammond-Baveystock will compete as individuals.
Including UTEP, 11 teams will be participating in the tournament, as Abilene Christian, Campbell, Cincinnati, Houston Christian, UIW, Iowa, Oklahoma City, Princeton, Texas Tech and UTRGV will all join the Miners on the course.
This is the first time that UTEP has played a tournament in Lubbock since the 2007 season, and the fourth time overall in program history. The best finish to date at The Rawls Course as a team was sixth in 2007, with Gerina Mendoza tying for second individually with a five-under par 211 tally.
