UTEP Women’s Golf Travels to Arizona for Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

EL PASO, Texas – 
UTEP women's golf will compete at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz., April 3 and 4.

The tournament is set to take place at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club-Desert Course (Par 72, 6,191 yards). Wednesday and Thursday's action tees off at 7:30 a.m. MST/8:30 MDT each day.
 
The Miners finished 11th out of 20 teams at the 2023 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
 
The field consists of 21 teams, including Wyoming, Nevada, Long Beach State, Boise State, Montana State, UC Riverside, Portland State, Southern Utah, NM State, San Diego State, Northern Arizona, Santa Clara, Hawaii, Cal State Fullerton, Fresno State, Northern Colorado, Cal State Bakersfield, Montana, CSUN, Sacramento State, and UTEP
 
Marta Romeu Chen (74.0), Ella Hammond-Baveystock (81.0), Nawel Ben Letaief (74.0), Luciana Origel (77.5), and Taline Kyoumjian (75.4) will take the course for the Miners.
 
UTEP has competed eight times this season, tying for fifth out of 17 teams at MSU/ Payne Stewart Memorial, earning fifth out of 10 teams at the Red Raider Invitational, placing ninth at both the Golf Iconic Classic and the Clash at Boulder Creek (out of 17 and 19 teams, respectively), finishing seventh out of 14 squads at the Texas State Invitational, earning ninth place out of 21 the GCU Invitational, placing seventh out of 17 teams at the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein, and most recently finishing 10th out of 10 teams at the Pinetree Women's Intercollegiate.
 
Romeu Chen was top golfer for the Miners last time out, tying for 3rd with a five-over par 149 (76-73). The final round of the Pinetree Women's Intercollegiate was canceled due to inclement weather.

UTEP will compete for the final time this season at the 2024 CUSA Women's Golf Championship April 15-17 in Magnolia, Texas.
