Tim Hundley has been named UTEP's football defensive coordinator, head coach Mike Price announced on Monday.

Brings nearly 30 years of collegiate coaching experience to the UTEP staff...has recruited 11 high school standouts who went on to play in the NFL, including current pros Andre Gurode (Dallas Cowboys), Michael Lewis (Philadelphia Eagles) and Ryan Neufeld (Buffalo Bills)...also recruited three future All-Americans -- Arnold Ale (UCLA), David Kilson (Nevada) and Sam Merriman (Idaho)...has coached in nine bowl games -- 1991 John Hancock, 1993 Rose, 1995 Aloha, 1996 Holiday, 1998 Aloha, 1999 Holiday, 2001 Rose, 2001 Holiday and 2002 Sun...most recently served as the defensive coordinator at Washington from 1999-2003...tutored the Husky outside linebackers from 1999-2002, and coached all of the linebackers while overseeing the punt coverage unit in 2003...worked as the defensive line coach at Colorado from 1996-98...spent six years (1990-95) at UCLA as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator...was on the Oregon State staff from 1982-89, including serving as defensive coordinator from 1983-89...other previous coaching stops include Nevada (1980-81), Idaho (1977-79), Clackamas Community College (1975-76) and Western Oregon State (1974)...spent one year coaching on the offensive side of the ball, teaching Idaho's running backs in 1978...inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame after an All-American football career at Western Oregon State...a three-time All-Conference selection as a collegiate player...earned his bachelor's degree in Education from Western Oregon State in 1974...added a master's degree in Education from Idaho in 1978...attended Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, Ore. where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball...wife's name is Pam...has two sons, Jake and Nick...Nick is a sophomore catcher on the University of Arizona baseball team...Jake is a junior at UCLA...born 5/1/51 (Portland, Ore.).
