UTEP's Darilek To Participate in The Villages Gridiron Classic

UTEP's Trey Darilek will play in The Villages Gridiron Classic on Saturday (Jan. 31) in The Villages, Fla.

Darilek, a 6-6, 305-pound offensive lineman from San Antonio, is on the South team roster. He is one of four players from the Western Athletic Conference participating in the game, joining SMU cornerback Jonas Rutledge, Fresno State cornerback Kendall Edwards and Tulsa wide receiver Romby Bryant.

The game will be nationally televised by ESPN at noon Eastern time (10 AM Mountain time).

Darilek started 43 games for the Miners over the last four seasons. He started 30 games at right tackle before moving to left tackle for the 2003 season.

He was tabbed first team All-WAC this past season after helping UTEP average 367 yards of total offense per game. The Miners ended the season with 248 first downs (third in school history) and 4,771 yards of offense (second).

Darilek was honorable mention All-WAC in 2002 despite missing a portion of the season with a torn MCL. He was named to College Football News' Freshman All-America Team in 2000.
