I know it has been a while since I last talked but things have been crazy hectic. Last Friday we played Southern Miss, who has a team with some big girls. I consider myself a big girl, but one of their forwards towered over me! That didn't stop us though; we pulled out a 2-0 win. On Sunday we played UCF, another team ranked above us in the preseason poll. Every time we have an opportunity to play a team ranked above us, it fuels me even more to know how low we were ranked. We came out fast and put one away on a corner in the first half. We had many opportunities to score but had some trouble finishing. Our defense played awesome and kept them out of our half to win the game 1-0!
After the game our coach said to us, "We are now 14-0-1." How incredible does that sound?! For me it was almost numbing. I have never been on a team this successful. We play as a unit and not as individuals and it feels great. I know that we are undefeated but I also know this drives every teams that comes to play us. They want our first loss for their records. This means that every time we step on the field we can not let down and need to play better each game.
We have a big test this Friday with SMU coming to town. This is our last night home game and we are going to be playing the preseason favorite in Conference USA. We have been battling this team since our WAC days. Last year they came to us and lost on our home field. I know they want revenge but we want it more. This is our game, we just have to come out on fire.
With the way soccer feels right know I get lost in everyhing happening in school. This past week I have had two midterms. I am happy to say that I did much better than I expected on my philosophy essay test. I stayed up all night preparing for five essays only for the professor to pick two of them. When I got home and went over some homework I though I had answered one of the questions wrong. Then when I went to class the prof had a long lecture on what we did wrong, and that he might consider dropping this grade only if we changed our ways on the next exam. He handed them back and, ta da, I got a high B! I'm waiting on one last grade for my psych class so we will see.
In sculpture i am in the process of working on a new piece using plaster and steel. I haven't had much time to get in and work in my class, but today I'm excited because I will be able to make the whole class, since soccer practice will be early and short today.
In the 17 years of soccer I have played many different styles. The biggest differences were playing varsity on an all boys team for four years. It is a much faster and more individual style of playing. I am not that fast of a player, but i gave it my all and was successful. Girls play much more as a unit and are way more aggressive from my experiences. (To grossly condense the styles) I think it is good to take all styles of play with you and add them to what ever team you join because every one has different experiences.
Come and check out our last home games this weekend!!!! They will be awsome!!!
Bye-cycle
