For the second straight season, the UTEP football team has garnered a top-25 national ranking.
The Miners check in at No. 24 in this week's Associated Press poll, and No. 25 in the USA Today poll.
UTEP received 124 points in the AP poll and 142 in the USA Today poll following Saturday night's 45-0 shutout of Texas Southern - the Miners' fifth straight victory.
The Miners are 8-1 for the first time since 1988.
UTEP was listed in both polls for the first time in school history late last season. The Miners' highest ranking was 23rd by AP on Nov. 14.
The Miners will host UAB on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. MST, needing just one win in their final two games to earn a spot in the Dec. 3 Conference USA Championship Game. The UAB game will be nationally televised on the i network (formerly PAX).
