UTEP Coach Doc Sadler announced on Monday that senior forward Jason Williams' suspension has been lifted and he will return to the Miner basketball team.
Williams practiced on Monday and will play on Saturday against I-10 rival New Mexico State.
"I've made a decision that I believe is best for our basketball program," Sadler said.
Williams is leading UTEP in scoring at 15.4 points per game, while shooting 66 percent from the field. He had started 72 straight games for the Miners before missing Sunday's 65-59 overtime loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.
Sadler said a lot of factors went into the decision to reinstate Williams.
"The biggest thing was the conversation that I had with Stefon [Jackson]," he said. "He actually didn't want Jason to miss yesterday's game."
Sadler said Williams has been a model citizen on and off the court since arriving at UTEP.
"It was a hard decision to make, but I've done what I think is right," Sadler said. "Jason is excited about coming back. He and Stefon were together last night at Stefon's apartment."
