Braxton Amy of Richmond, Texas, has signed a financial aid agreement to become a part of the UTEP football team starting this fall.
Amy, who starred at Richmond Foster H.S., originally gave Wisconsin a nonbinding verbal commitment last fall. He comes to UTEP as a true freshman and will be eligible to play immediately.
The six-foot, 190-pound Braxton was a three-year varsity letterwinner for coach Mark Wiatrek at Foster. He started at free safety and wide receiver and additionally played outside linebacker as a sophomore.
As a senior he posted 93 tackles including four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns) on defense and caught 20 passes for 429 yards and four touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball in eight games.
Braxton received honorable mention All-State by the coaches’ association and the Associated Press in 2004. He was also the Houston Area MVP, the District 24-4A Defensive MVP and his team's MVP.
Braxton was picked All-District and All-Area as a junior.
The UTEP football team will report to campus on Wed., Aug. 3, with fall drills starting on Thursday, Aug. 4.
