Honors Continue Rolling in For Higgins

UTEP senior wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins, Jr. was named the Conference USA Coaches' Special Teams Player of the Year on Wednesday.

Higgins set a league record for average yards per punt return in 2006 (23.4), with two for touchdowns. He also averaged 15.3 yards on kickoff returns. He earned first team All-Conference honors as a wide receiver and returner.

In addition, Houston senior quarterback Kevin Kolb and Tulsa senior linebacker Nick Bunting were named the C-USA Coaches' Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. SMU quarterback Justin Willis was chosen the conference Freshman of the Year.
