Miners Drop Match to Reno

RENO, Nev. - The UTEP rifle team fell to Nevada Sunday in Reno. The Miners finished with an aggregate score of 4559, firing 2241 in smallbore and 2318 in air gun.

Nevada dominated the match with scores of 2313 and 2347 in smallbore and air rifle, respectively, to finish with an aggregate score of 4660, 101 points over the Miners.

Sophomores Amber Criss and Josie Burzynski led the individual portion of air gun, both shooting over the 580 mark. Criss led with a team-high 583, while Burzynski recorded 581. Andrea Palafox and Morgan Glenn each fired 577.

Palafox led the smallbore competition for UTEP, registering a team-high 566. Burzynski followed with 565, while Criss and Glenn finished the day with scores of 560 and 550, respectively.

The Miners will open their home season on Oct. 25 as they take on Air Force and Ole Miss in a triangular competition.
