COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UTEP rifle team fell to Air Force and Nevada in Colorado Springs, Colo., over the weekend. Nevada placed first with a weekend aggregate of 4607. Air Force followed with 4605 and UTEP came in third, firing 4577.
Amber Criss and Andrea Palafox paced UTEP in air gun, each firing 584. Morgan Glenn finished with a round of 573 and Josie Burzynski recorded 572. El Paso natives, Atenas Bojorquez and Sarah Mena fired rounds of 572 and 560, respectively.
Criss was the Miners' top shooter in smallbore, posting a score of 574. Burzynski (570), Glenn (564) and Palafox (561) followed.
The Miners will take a two-week break from competition in order to prep Alaska-Fairbanks, the NCAA defending national champions. The two teams will battle on Nov. 30 at the UTEP Rifle Range.
