UTEP's Shooters Fall To Alaska-Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The UTEP rifle team fell to Alaska-Fairbanks for the second time in as many days, 4662-4599, on Saturday in Alaska.

Despite the loss, the Miners showed improvement, securing a score two points higher than Friday's 4597. Three of the Miners' shooters scored 580 or higher in air gun.

Freshman Andrea Palafox was the Miners' top shooter in air gun, firing 583. Josie Burzynski registered 582 and Amber Criss recorded 580. Morgan Glenn shot 567.

Criss, who had a team-high aggregate of 1157, led the Miners in smallbore gunning 577 on the day. Burzynski was not far behind with a score of 573. Palafox and Glenn finished the day with scores of 571 and 566, respectively.

The Miners return to action on Oct. 11 at Nevada-Reno. The Orange and Blue will open its home slate on Oct. 25 against Air Force and Ole Miss.
