UTEP harassed UT-Pan American into 29.1 percent shooting, including 23.3 percent in the second half, on its way to a 60-42 rout of the Broncs on Friday at the Don Haskins Center.

UT-Pan American (4-9) made just seven of 30 shots after halftime in being outscored 34-19. The Miners essentially put the game away with a 10-0 run encompassing the final 1:51 of the first half and the first 3:52 of the second half.

That turned a 23-22 deficit into a 32-23 lead, and UT-Pan American was no match for the Miners (8-5) after that.

UTEP built leads of as many as 21 points (59-38) before polishing off the Broncs, who dropped to 0-5 on the road this season.

The Miners were sluggish in the first half, shooting 40 percent and trailing 17-12 at the nine-minute mark. They rallied to take a 26-23 lead at the break, then shot 54.5 percent in the second half to finish at 46.8 percent for the night.

Stefon Jackson scored 17 points, Gabriel McCulley 13 and Arnett Moultrie 10 for the short-handed Miners, who were playing without big men Kareem Cooper and Wayne Portalatin. Both were battling flu-like symptoms.

Claude Britten added eight points, including three of the Miners' five dunks.

The 42 points were the fewest allowed in 77 games under coach Tony Barbee. The previous low point total by an opposing team was 43 by Rice last season.

Nick Weiermiller scored 16 points to lead UT-Pan American.

UTEP will return to action at New Mexico on Tuesday at 7 p.m. MST. The Miners will be playing their first game in The Pit since November, 2005.
