Rifle Falls to TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The UTEP rifle team fell to TCU, 4649-4630, in Fort Worth on Saturday.

The Miners out-fired the Horned Frogs in air rifle, posting a team score of 2339 to TCU's 2333. UTEP tripped in smallbore, recording an aggregate score of 2291 to TCU's 2316.

Andrea Palafox was the top shooter in both guns, registering 589 and 579 in air rifle and smallbore, respectively.

In fact, all four shooters fired above the 580-mark in air gun. Palafox's 589 was followed by Josie Burzynski's 584. Amber Criss and Alix Moncada both gunned 583.

The Miners were not as successful in smallbore, as Moncada notched a score of 574 and was followed by Burnzynski (571) and Criss (561).

The Miners return to action for their final regular season match-up against Nevada on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, at the UTEP Rifle Range.
