SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The UTEP softball team fell, 1-0, at San Diego State on Tuesday at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Miners move to 21-19 on the season.

UTEP was held to three hits in the outing, as the Aztecs' Bailey Micetich and Samantha Beasley struck out nine of UTEP's batters combined, earning San Diego State its 16th shutout of the season in the process.

Stacie Townsend (13-12), who was the losing pitcher, recorded two of the Miners' three hits, both singles. Chelsea Troupe, the stadium favorite with a crowd of about 100 fans, had the only other hit of the afternoon in her return home.

The Aztecs' only run was a ground single into left field, driving home Felicia Reifshneider who reached on a UTEP error, for the unearned run.

The Miners had handful of opportunities, but flawless Aztec defense kept the Miners from reaching first. SDSU robbed Shea Lodes of a home run and a single and Jennifer Davis was kept from reaching base off of a diving catch in right field and third base.

The game concludes a 10-game road stand, as the Miners return home to Helen of Troy Field for a three game conference match-up against East Carolina. The series begins on Friday with a doubleheader slated for 3 p.m. and concludes at Noon on Saturday.
