UTEP Postgame Notes

  • UTEP held a conference opponent under 20 points in a road game for the second time under coach Mike Price. The first time was a 36-17 victory at UAB in 2006.
  • The Miners have been held to 21 points or less in seven of their nine games versus Conference USA East Division teams.
  • For the sixth time in nine games, UTEP's opponent scored on its opening drive. Today marked the fifth time that the opposition scored a TD on its first drive. UTEP opponents have scored 31 of their 202 points (15.3 percent) on their initial possession this season.
  • The last time the Miners blocked a punt was on Sept. 27, 2008 versus UCF (Cornelius Brown blocked a punt by Blake Clingan) .
  • The last time UTEP had double-digit third down conversions in a conference road game was on Nov. 18, 2000 at TCU (10-of-21). The Miners were 10-for-18 on third down today.
  • UTEP is now 0-15-1 all-time when playing a game in the Eastern time zone.
  • Kris Adams moved into eighth place on the Miners' career reception list (131), passing Jimmy Carpenter (126) and Chris Francies (128) today. He also moved into sixth place in career receiving yardage (2,294), passing Ed Puishes (2,234) .
  • Adams' fourth quarter TD reception was the 26th of his career, tying Jeff Moturi for the third-top total in UTEP history.
  • Adams has caught a pass in 33 consecutive games.
  • With 2,355 yards, Donald Buckram now ranks seventh on UTEP's career rushing list. He passed Pug Gabrel today.
  • Trevor Vittatoe tied Houston's David Klingler for the 19th-most touchdown passes in NCAA history with 91.
  • Vittatoe leaped past Rice's Chase Clement and Tulsa's Paul Smith into fifth place on the Conference USA career total offense list with 11,628 yards.
  • Marlon McClure's 58-yard punt return in the third quarter surpassed his previous career long of 53 yards versus Memphis on Oct. 25.
  • All three of Evan Davis' catches today came on third down and produced first downs. Entering the game, he had nine catches for first downs on the season.
  • Since being inserted into the starting lineup at strong safety against Rice on Oct. 9, Wiston Jeune has been credited with 39 tackles in four games.
  • Kevin Perry made his first catch since the season opener, and Russell Carr & Elijah Goldtrap both made his first receptions since the Memphis game on Sept. 25.
