EL PASO – The UTEP rifle team fell to Jacksonville State this weekend at the UTEP Rifle Range.
The Miners finished with an aggregate score of 4583, firing 2317 in air rifle and 2266 in smallbore.
Sophomore Alix Moncada was UTEP’s top shooter in air rifle for the match posting 588, following only Jacksonville State’s Andrea Dardas who posted 593.
UTEP’s Hannah Muegge registered 579 and newcomer Korina Rodriguez started her season off strong by recording 576.
Jacksonville State’s Dardas also took the top spot in smallbore, recording 584.
Two of Jackonville State’s four shooters fired over 580 to secure the air gun score, combining for a 2330 aggregate. The Gamecocks shot 2291 in smallbore to finish with a combined team score of 4621.
The Miners had a hard time keeping up with the Gamecocks in the three-position gun. Andrea Palafox posted a team-high 577 and was followed by Andrea Vautrin (566), Moncada (563) and Josie Burzynski (560).
