Final Results 
TUCSON, ARIZ.- The UTEP tennis team was dispatched by No. 49 Arizona, 7-0, on the road Sunday afternoon. The Miners (0-2) competed hard in doubles but dropped three closely-contested matches, and the Wildcats (2-0) took care of business in singles play.
"The ladies played fantastic in the doubles matches," UTEP head coach Victor Aguilar said. "Ximena Fuentes was the highlight for us today. We played the No. 49 team in the country today, and we fought hard."
The match initiated in doubles action, where the Orange and Blue gave UA everything it wanted before ultimately falling at each of the courts. At No. 1 doubles, the Wildcats' tandem of Natasha Marks/Sarah Landsman trailed early before rallying to down the Miners' duo of Martina Trieweieler/Carolina DeLuca, 8-6.
Ximena Fuentes/Gabi Vazquez also fell by that count, with UA's Susan McRann/Jane Huh emerging victorious at No. 2 doubles. The duo of Dariya Abdrakhmanova/Marie LeBlond gave the Wildcats' Lacey Smyth/Debora Castany everything it wanted only to be tripped up in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5).
There was then a quick reprieve before singles action commenced. Fuentes battled Castany hard at No. 5 singles but was not rewarded for her efforts in the results, dropping the match 6-2, 6-3. Trierweiler also played well but still came up shy, 6-4, 6-1, against Marks at No. 1 singles.
LeBlond locked up with Huh at No. 6 singles, where she was downed 6-2, 6-1. Glebova ran into trouble against McRann at No. 4 singles, and was saddled with a 6-0, 6-3 defeat. DeLuca never got on track against Smyth at No. 2 singles, and she was derailed by a final count of 6-0, 6-0.
UTEP will be back in action when it plays at New Mexico at 2 p.m. MT on Saturday.
