Five seniors from the 2010 UTEP football team - wide receiver Kris Adams, running back Donald Buckram, offensive lineman Rod Huntley, offensive lineman Alex Solot and quarterback Trevor Vittatoe - have received invites to NFL camps following Monday's lifting of the league lockout.
Adams and Vittatoe will be vying for spots on the Chicago Bears roster, while Buckram, Huntley and Solot will be trying out for the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers respectively.
Adams ranks second in school history in touchdown receptions (30), third in yards per catch (18.5), fourth in receiving yards (2,657), tied for fourth in 100-yard games (10) and seventh in receptions (144). He became only the sixth UTEP player to accumulate 1,000 yards receiving in 2010, ending the year with 47 catches for 1,070 yards.
Vittatoe is UTEP's all-time leader for passing yards (12,439), passing TDs (97), total offense (12,291 yards) and touchdowns responsible for (98). He ranks second in school history with fourteen 300-yard passing games. He rates 14th in passing yards, and 15th in passing TDs and total offense on the all-time NCAA list. A starter in 49 games for the Miners, Vittatoe threw for a personal best 3,308 yards in 2009, including a school-record 517 versus Marshall.
A first team All-Conference USA performer and semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award in 2009, Buckram broke a 60-yard old UTEP single season rushing record that year by gaining 1,594 yards on 259 carries. He concluded his career as UTEP's no. 7 all-time leading run producer with 2,417 yards.
Huntley started 29 games at right guard for the Miners, including 23 over the last two seasons. He helped UTEP establish school standards with 5,144 yards of offense and 428.7 yards per game in 2009.
The 6-8, 310-pound Solot was one of two Miners to start every game in the offensive line during the 2010 season as injuries crippled the unit. He started 21 consecutive contests at right tackle to wrap up his collegiate career.
