2014-15 UTEP Tennis Stats
EL PASO, Texas - The UTEP women's tennis team won its eight match of the season, defeating Western New Mexico, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon at the El Paso Tennis & Swim Club.
The Miners (8-3) won the doubles point, as all three matches finished in 25 minutes. Each of the three doubles matches were won by a score of 6-0.
Senior Anastasiya Sylenko made her second doubles start, teaming up with Lois Wagenvoort to take down Claudia Osuna and Pauline Emin, 6-0, on the No. 3 court. The duo of Sylenko-Wagenvoort improved to 2-0 in dual match doubles play.
On the singles side, Davina Meza won her fifth consecutive match, defeating Ganna Tiurina, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, on the No. 1 court. Jeannez Daniel won her third straight match after besting Annica Betz, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot. Duda Santos beat Ashley Newell, 7-6 (4), 6-0, at No. 3. Santos has won eight of her last 10 matches.
Meza, Daniel and Santos each improved to 9-2 in dual match play.
Daphne Visscher won her second consecutive match, defeating Osuna, 6-1, 3-6, 10-3, at No. 4. Matilda Tench improved to 7-4 after she cruised by Emin in straight sets. Sylenko made her second singles start, but fell short, 6-2, 4-6, 11-9, at No. 6.

UTEP will host Texas-Pan American on March 22 at 9 a.m. Sylenko will be honored prior to Sunday's match.
