Miners Tied For Lead After Day One At The Little Rock Golf Classic

Hot Springs Village, Ark. – The UTEP women's golf team is tied for the lead along with South Alabama, shooting a 9-over par 297 at the Little Rock Golf Classic on Sunday afternoon. Lily Downs tops the field with a 2-under par 70.

Downs registered a season-best four birdies through the first eighteen holes. She holds a one stroke lead over Missouri States' Rachel Johnson and Lamars' Laura Barcelo (70, -1).

Valeria Mendizabal holds onto a tie for 13th place, shooting 2-over par 74. The sophomore netted back-to-back birdies at the 3rd and 4th holes, tallying four total. Audrie Haddad registered a 4-over par 76 on the day to position herself in a tie for 24th. Abbie Anghelescu and Shannon O'Dwyer are tied for 32nd overall, putting up a 5-over par 77.

The Miners will be back in action for day two on Monday with a tee-time of 8:45 a.m. MT, with 18 holes to be played.
