UTEP Golf Takes On Bandon Dunes Championship

EL PASO, TexasThe UTEP men's golf team will head to the Northwest to compete in the ninth-annual Bandon Dunes Championship at the Pacific Dunes Course (par 71/6,633 yards) March 11-13 in Bandon, Ore. The three-day tournament will have set tee-times on Sunday and Monday and an 9:30 a.m. (MST) shotgun start on the final day. 

At last year's Bandon Dunes Championship, Oregon cruised to the team title, finishing at 28-under 836. It will be the first time UTEP competes in the event.  


The Miners will join host Gonzaga in the 14-team field that includes three top-25 teams in no. 15 Clemson, no. 22 Arizona State and no. 24 Oregon as well as Boise State, Denver, Idaho, Santa Clara, San Jose State, Seattle, Southern Utah, Utah and Washington State.

Heading to the Oregon coast for the Miners will be Charles Corner, Nicklas Pihl, Aaron Terrazas, Settavut Paradee and newcomer Oskar Ambrosius
 
The team is returning to action after a seventh place finish out of 16 squads at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz., where the Miners shot 14-under 850 (284-281-285). UTEP bested no. 21 Colorado State and no. 35 Santa Clara in its finish. Corner led the Miner run for the third time in the spring season with a 15th place finish, while Pihl and Terrazas have also been steady forces and Paradee has been a staple in the lineup. Ambrosius made his debut with the Miners at the Arizona Intercollegiate in January, finishing strong in 13th place among the individual players.
