EL PASO, Texas – UTEP's Women's Golf squad will travel to Arkansas this weekend for the final event of the fall season when the Miners compete in the 2019 Little Rock Golf Classic beginning on Sunday.
The 54-hole event is set to begin with an 8:30 a.m. CT tee time on Sunday, Oct. 27 from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. The Little Rock Golf Classic will be held at the Diamante Country Club, which is a par-72, 6,088-yard course in Hot Springs Village. The participating teams are scheduled to play 18 holes each day.
The 2019 Little Rock Golf Classic is made up of a 17-team field for the three-day event. The Miners are scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. CT tee time on both Sunday and Monday, while Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at the same time.
UTEP will send five golfers to the event, including
Valeria Mendizabal Riepele (Jr., Guatemala City, Guatemala),
Audrey Haddad (Jr., Geneva, Switzerland),
Abbie Anghelescu (Sr., Wolfe Island, Ontario),
Sophie Delfosse (Fr., Valenciennes, France) and
Shannon O'Dwyer (Sr., Hartlepool, Durham, U.K.).
In addition to the Miners, the rest of the field includes the host Trojans, Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, Bradley, California-Baptist, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Jacksonville State, Kansas City, Lamar, Missouri State, Stephen F. Austin, ULM, UT Arlington, Utah Valley and WKU.
THE LAST TIME OUT
UTEP completed the third and final round of play at FIU's Pat Bradley Invitational on last Tuesday with the Miners finishing the event in seventh place as a team at the Lakewood Ranch Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
In the final round, UTEP mirrored its first-round score of 296 (+8) to finish the week with a three-round total of 882 (296, 290, 296; +18) overall, while Stetson took home the title at 8-under-par for the event.
UTEP wrapped up the tournament 3-over on par three holes, while the Miners were just 1-over on par five holes over the course of the three-day invitational. UTEP totaled 10 birdies as a team at last week's event.
The Miners were led by
Valeria Mendizabal, who posted the lowest score of the round for UTEP for the final two days. Mendizabal shot 69 (-3) in the final round to end the event in fourth place at 8-under-par with a three-round score of 208 (72, 67, 69).
