Connor Putman has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Video Production & Graphic Design at UTEP, Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced on Monday.
"We'd like to welcome Connor to the UTEP Athletics family," Senter said. "I had the pleasure of working with him at The Citadel. He brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, a tremendous work ethic and a diverse skill set to his new role overseeing the Miner Vision team."
"I'm very excited to get started," Putman said. "I want to thank Jim Senter for allowing me the opportunity to work with him once again. UTEP is a place loaded with tradition and pride that presents a great opportunity for telling the stories of the student athletes. The city of El Paso has been very welcoming to me and I can't wait to start working with the great people at UTEP!"
Putman comes to the Sun City after spending three years as Director of Video Production at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., where he helped promote The Citadel's teams and student athletes through the creation of graphic and video content. He also directed, produced and coordinated staffing for all of the Bulldogs' ESPN3 broadcasts, which received the highest viewership in the Southern Conference during the 2016 football season.
Previously he served as Media Coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) from 2015-16. In that capacity he photographed, edited, and produced written content for the RMAC Showcase on Altitude Sports. He also generated weekly highlight video and RMAC Top-5 segments for on-air and online broadcast. Putman managed and oversaw all content for the most-watched Division II YouTube channel.
A 2015 graduate of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and an emphasis in Strategic and Organizational Communication, Putman was a three-time member of the Dean's List. While completing work on his undergraduate degree, Putman worked as a correspondent for Falcon Vision with the United States Air Force Academy (2014-16) and interned with Gray Digital Media in Colorado Springs (2014-15). He cut his teeth in the video production business, reporting on local football contests (high school, Division I and professional) as a live anchor, while writing freelance pieces and editing video content behind the scenes.
