Morgahn Warner shot a team-high 1151 to lead UTEP Rifle (4579) against Alaska (4651) at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range on Saturday.
"First match of the year is now shot and in the books," Head coach
Austin Litherland said. "Not all matches go as planned, but they are all learning opportunities. Today was one of those opportunities. When we compete tomorrow we will focus on what we learned today, so that we can improve."
Warner posted the second highest smallbore score (576) of the match, and locked in a 575 air rifle score to pace the Orange and Blue. Senior
Mara Rouse followed Warner with an aggregate of 1141, and recorded the second highest air rifle mark (580) for UTEP. Freshman
Amoret McCartney also posted an 1141 aggregate in her first collegiate action.
Samantha Miller registered an 1134 aggregate, ranking fourth on the squad.
Jonna Warnken notched the best air rifle score (585) on the team, and shot 543 in smallbore.
Redshirt freshman
Jennie Windle posted a 541 in smallbore and 577 in air rifle.
