EL PASO, Texas – UTEP Volleyball (2-2) defeated Angelo State (0-0) in four sets (18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-13), 3-1, in Saturday's first match. The Miners dropped the second contest against the Rambelles (23-25, 22-25, 22-25), 0-3.

Ava Palm matched her career-high 13 kills set in UTEP's last scrimmage against Stephen F. Austin in Denton, Texas, on Oct. 13, in match one. The highlight of Palm's first-match performance was a stretch of three consecutive service aces to set the Miners up for a match-winning fourth set.

Alianza Darley combined for 20 kills, notching 12 and eight, respectively, to add to the UTEP offense.
