EL PASO, Texas – Starting quarterback Gavin Hardison recently took time for a question and answer session with UTEPMiners.com.

Why did you transfer to UTEP?
I thought it was a good spot for me, thought it was a good situation for me. In talking to Coach Dimel I really had a good feeling about the situation here.

How have you improved since arriving on campus?
I've improved in every aspect of my game honestly. First and foremost, I've gotten bigger since I've been here. When I came in, I wasn't very big stature wise, but also my knowledge of the game, accuracy, footwork, everything honestly. I've improved since I've been here.

What's it like to come out of the Mine Shaft with fans back in the Sun Bowl?
It's an awesome thing. Something that a lot of people don't get to experience. And it's just a blessing to be able to experience it on Saturday and feel the atmosphere at the Sun Bowl

What's your favorite throw to make?
To the open guy.

What's your longest drive on the golf course?
I know people are gonna think I'm lying, but it was probably about 340 yards with the wind at my back.

What has been your best UTEP moment so far?
I mean, I have a bunch of good moments here. It's been a really fun couple years. But probably the best moments are after wins with my teammates and coaches.

Why do you wear #12?
That's just the number they gave me when I got here and I just stuck with it

So it's not for Tom Brady?
Nah.

What was it like growing up in Hobbs, N.M.?
It was cool. It was a small town where everybody knows everybody type of deal. I mean, it was just like a family atmosphere. It was a cool experience.

What do you want fans to know about you?
That I'm striving to be the best teammate I can be.
