UTEP Women’s Golf Completes Bearkat Invitational Tuesday Afternoon

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The UTEP women's golf team finished tied ninth at the 2021 Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational at Elkins Lake Country Club (par 71, 6025) on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Miners shot 69-over par, 921 (307, 315, 299). Host Sam Houston won the tournament, shooting 17-over par, 869 (287, 291, 291). Lamar finished last (14th) at 129-over par, 981. UTEP totaled 29 birdies and 141 pars.
 
Marta Romeu paced the Miners. The freshman from Valencia, Spain, finished tied 17th, shooting 9-over par, 222 (72, 80, 70). Romeu tallied a team-best nine birdies. Andrea Ostos (229), Sophie Delfosse (230), Ella Baveystock (244) and Ines Dakiche (250) rounded out the order of finish for UTEP.
 
Incarnate Word's Ellen Nicholas won the individual title, penciling in a 5-under par, 208 (69, 70, 69).
 
UP NEXT
UTEP will compete at the Aggie Invitational hosted by NM State on Oct. 4-6 at NM State Golf Course. The Miners will conclude the fall season at the Jupiter Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., hosted by FIU on Oct. 16 and 17.
