Miners Head to UTSA to Wrap Up Season

EL PASO, Texas – UTEP soccer concludes the 2022 season at UTSA on Friday at 6 p.m. MT/7 p.m. CT.
 
The Miners (4-10-3, 1-6-2 C-USA) and Roadrunners (8-5-4, 3-3-3 C-USA) are meeting for the 12th time in the head-to-head series.

ABOUT UTSA
The Roadrunners are guaranteed a spot in the conference tournament and have compiled 12 points on the season. Currently, UTSA sits in sixth in the standings and will be either the No. 6 or No. 7 seed in the tournament depending on results this week. The team has outscored the opposition by an impressive 31-15 total this season and is led by Kiran Singh with six goals and six assists. Additional players to watch include Sasjah Dade with four goals and three assists and Anna Sutter with three goals and five assists. Alissa Stewart is the second-leading scorer with five goals. Mia Krusinski has been the keeper for the Roadrunners as of late and has a 0.71 goals against average with 14 saves over the course of 630 minutes played. She has worked three shutouts.
 
SERIES HISTORY
UTEP has dominated the all-time series with UTSA to the tune of an 8-1-2 record. In San Antonio, the Miners lead 2-1-2.
 
DOWN TO THE WIRE
Last time out, the Miners pushed a tough North Texas team to the final minute in a 1-0 defeat. Tessa Carlin generated an on-frame shot with 30 seconds left that was headed away by defender Victoria Altieri to preserve the win for the Mean Green.
 
STAYING ACTIVE
Goalkeeper Mariah Scott has faced 248 shots this season and made 76 saves, the second-highest total in the conference and the 60th most in the nation. In her first season as the full-time starter, Scott has a 1.55 goals against average and five shutouts.
 
STARTING TRIO
Tessa Carlin, Cayman Tamez and Mariah Scott have started all 17 games for the Miners this season.
 
NO QUIT IN THE MINERS
UTEP has three ties on the season which is tied for the fourth most in a single season in program history. The school record of four has happened on three separate occasions.
 
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
For the third straight year and the fifth time in the last six seasons, UTEP will play the regular season finale on the road.
