UTEP Volleyball Signs Four to 2023 Roster

EL PASO – UTEP Volleyball Head Coach Ben Wallis brings on four new additions to the 2023 roster, outside hitter Lauren Wallace, libero Ava Martindale, and middle blockers Beatrice Gennari and Genavi Oyoyo. 

Beatrice Gennari | Middle Blocker/Opposite | 6-0 | Monza, Italy 
Gennari and her team from Liceo Scientifico Sportivo "L. Da Vinci" HS reached the National Finals of the U18 Tournament, where only 20 teams throughout the country have the opportunity to participate in. Last season, she achieved a personal best of 25 points in a single match. 

Lauren Wallace | Outside Hitter | 6-0 | Munster, Indiana 

Wallace is a four-year letter winner from Munster High School. Going into her final season, the outside hitter racked up 1,060 kills, 484 digs, 153 blocks and 42 aces. Looking at the Hoosier State's volleyball leaders in kills, Wallace is ranked ninth with 483 kills. Wallace was selected to the 13-member Northwest Crossroads Conference First Team in 2022. 

Ava Martindale | Libero / Defensive Specialist | 5-5 | College Station, Texas 

The Area and Bi-District Champion of College Station High School closed out her senior season with 830 digs, 155 assists and 57 service aces. In 2021, Martindale was an Academic All-District selection and All-District Honorable Mention. Her 2022 accolades include: AVCA All America Watch List, AVCA Best and Brightest Second Team AVCA All-Region, AVCA All-America Third Team, and THSCA Academic All-State Second Team. 

Genavi Oyoyo | Middle Blocker | 6-1 | Suwanee, Georgia 

The middle blocker from Peachtree Ridge High School has accumulated 150 digs, 111 kills, 45 blocks and 39 service aces since joining the Lions' varsity roster in 2019. Oyoyo was a selected member of the GVCA 2020 All-Region First Team, 2020 All-Country First Team, and USAV 2021 High Performance National Team. As a member of the AAU A5 Volleyball team, she is a two-time AAU National Champion (15 & 16 USA) and USAV National Champion (15-USA).
