Miners to Take Part in GCU Invitational to Begin Spring Play

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP women's golf team begins the spring season by heading to Phoenix for the GCU Invitational held at the Grand Canyon University Golf Course (par 72) beginning Monday, Feb. 28.
 
On Monday, the Miners will play 36 holes beginning at 8 a.m. MT before concluding the tournament with the final 18 holes on Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. MT. Live results will be available here.
 
The yardage will be 6,171 yards on day one and 6,095 yards on day two. 
 
UTEP will compete in a field that features 19 teams and 104 players. The teams that will be participating include GCU, UC Riverside, Northern Arizona, Montana State, Portland State, Idaho, North Dakota State, CSU Bakersfield, Seattle U, Southern Utah, Dixie State, Santa Clara, Gonzaga, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, SMU, Eastern Washington and UTRGV. 
 
Five golfers have made the trip to Arizona for the Miners, including Sophie Delfosse, Andrea Ostos, Marta Romeu Chen, Naomi Ramirez and Ella Hammond-Baveystock
 
Over the course of the fall portion of the campaign, Delfosse led the Miners with a 74.5 average, participating in all five tournaments and earning the distinction as the top UTEP finisher three times, including one top-ten finish. 
 
Ostos averaged 75.8 in five tournaments, Romeu Chen 75.9 in five tournaments, Ramirez 77.3 in four tournaments and Hammond-Baveystock averaged an 81.3 in her lone tournament appearance at the Huntstville Toyota Bearkat Invitational.
