ABOUT NM STATE
Following a 9-11 campaign in 2021, the Aggies have started the new year with losses at Oregon and Texas A&M to go along with a 2-2 draw at Cal State Fullerton. Three players have scored one goal apiece for NM State this season, including Bianca Chacon, Mya Hammack and Loma McNeese. A total of 10 players have started in all three games for the squad. Makenna Gottschalk has started all three games as the keeper and allowed six goals with 15 saves while facing 57 shots. Rob Baarts is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Aggies.

ABOUT WYOMING
The Cowgirls are looking for their first win of the season and have played to back-to-back draws in games at Montana and at home against North Dakota. Wyoming finished the 2021 season with a record of 8-10-1 overall and 4-7 in the Mountain West. Senior forward Faith Joiner has been the most dynamic option on the attack to this point in 2022 with a pair of goals. Sophomores Alyssa Bedard and Maddi Chance paced Wyoming last season with seven combined goals, led by Bedard with four. Miyuki Schoyen is the goalie and has played every minute of the four contests to this point, yielding nine goals while making 17 saves.

SERIES HISTORY
UTEP has dominated the all-time series with NM State to the tune of a 10-1 record, including four straight victories. The only win for the Aggies came on Aug. 18, 2017 in a 2-1 double-overtime win in Las Cruces. UTEP holds a 3-1 edge on the New Mexico side of the border. Similarly, the Miners have experienced plenty of success against Wyoming, posting a 4-1-1 mark in the series. The last meeting came on Aug. 22, 2019 in El Paso and was a 2-2 draw. UTEP is 1-1 in Laramie as a program.

ATTA KIDD
Defender Emerson Kidd made a major impact in 56 minutes as a reserve in the 1-0 win last Sunday at UNLV. Kidd took a pair of shots, including the game-winner in the 75th minute. The goal was the third in her career in the Orange and Blue.

SHUTOUT FOR SCOTT
Keeper Mariah Scott worked the third shutout of her Miner career in the victory at UNLV, stopping six shots on the afternoon. Scott ranks second in Conference USA with 30 saves on the campaign.

SET PIECE DEFENSE
Despite facing an opponent school-record 14 corners against the Rebels, including 12 in the second half, UTEP withstood the dangerous situations with effective set piece defense on the way to a shutout.

FIRST UTEP STARTS
Baylor transfer Elena Reyna, redshirt sophomore Raquel Houston and freshman Kaila Hudson each made the first starts of their careers as Miners this past week.

SLOWING DOWN THE OPPOSITION
The Miners combined to allow just two goals to Southern Utah and UNLV last week. The Thunderbirds had entered the week as the highest-scoring team in NCAA Division I soccer, with UTEP holding them to four goals below their average scoring output for their prior three games.

LONG ROAD TRIP
UTEP will conclude a stretch of five games in a row on the road this week. The Miners last played five straight away from home during the 2012 season, with games at NM State, East Carolina, Marshall, SMU and Tulsa from Sept. 21-30.

UP NEXT
The Miners finally return home on Thursday, Sept. 8 to host UIW at 7 p.m. UTEP finishes off the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. when Nevada comes to town.
