UTEP Falls at UTSA, 90-66

SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
 UTEP women's basketball (4-5) fell 90-66 at UTSA (5-3) on Sunday. Aaliyah Stanton, Erin Wilson, and Jane Asinde scored in double figures for the Miners.
 
Stanton led UTEP with a career-high 17 points, followed by Wilson with 14 and Asinde with 10. Wilson was a perfect 8-8 from the line.
 
Adhel Tac paced the Miners on the boards with four. Wilson, Asinde, Dunja Zecevic, and Luisa Vydrova each had three.
 
UTEP finished the game shooting 38.1 percent (24-63) and 31.3 percent (5-16) from beyond the arc. The Miners hit 81.3 percent (13-16) from the line.
 
The home side got off to a hot start, leading 26-13 after the first period. Stanton led all Miners with six points. UTSA stretched its lead to 17, 48-31 at the half. Asinde scored six in the second quarter to pace UTEP.
 
At the half, the Miners were shooting 36 percent (12-33) from the floor, and 30 percent (3-10) from three. They shot 100 percent (4-4) from the foul line over the first 20 minutes. UTEP grabbed 14 rebounds and had four steals in the half.
 
The third period continued much as the second ended, and the Roadrunners led 65-46 going into the fourth. Wilson led the Miners with six points in the quarter. UTEP couldn't pull back into the game in the final quarter. In the fourth, Stanton scored six, followed by Wilson and Vydrova with four apiece.
 
UTSA shot 58.3 percent (35-60) from the field, 44.4 percent (8-18) from three, and 80.0 percent (12-15) from the foul line. The Roadrunners were led by Elyssa Coleman with 23 points and eight rebounds. Sydney Love (16), Kyra White (12), and Sienna Guttadauro (12) rounded out the leading scorers for UTSA.
